I've tried 11 different kalimbas (including Seeds 34-key, Gecko, LingTing, Hluru, Kimi, Moozica, and Aklot) at this point and this is my favorite overall. I believe it is the best chromatic kalimba on the market (other than perhaps Chill Angels' other kalimbas)!
Pitch: All 34 keys are tuned to different notes, which at this time is unlike any other brand of chromatic kalimbas on the market! The kalimba arrived needing very little tuning.
Timbre: This kalimba has a beautiful "sparkly" sound that I love, somewhere between a wooden kalimba and my Kimi acrylic kalimba, which is very sparkly-sounding. Many kalimbas have inharmonious metallic-sounding overtones that (to my ears) overwhelm the original note, and the ECO has very little. Its sustain is quite long on the lower notes, longer than on my Hluru flatboard kalimba, and a little less long on the highest notes, but still pretty good.
Loudness: It is louder than my Kimi acrylic kalimba and slightly less loud than my Hluru flatboard, which is supposedly one of the loudest flatboard kalimbas. I have no problems with ECO's volume for indoor use.
Playability: The tines are easy to play and I love that they are slightly farther apart than on most kalimbas, making it easier to not make mistakes while still easy enough to play glissando. The two rows of tines and entirely metal casing, however, are a little heavy and the kalimba has a tendency to tilt away from me during playing. Not a big deal though.
Appearance: See photo & video below! Note that I already applied the stickers that came with the kalimba. I recommend using tweezers so as not to get fingerprints on the stickers.
Carry case: The carrying bag/case is less sturdy than those that come with other kalimbas (and, I believe, Chill Angels' other kalimbas). However, I believe it will do its job and I love that it has a long shoulder strap so that I can carry the kalimba around easily (and stylishly!).
Hope this review helps. Bottom line: If you're in the market for a chromatic kalimba, GET THIS ONE!
